How to Start a Hijab Brand with Small Quantities: A Factory's Honest Guide

Want custom hijabs at just 10 pieces per color? A real manufacturer explains fabric MOQ, sampling fees and shipping costs — and the smart way to launch your hijab brand with stock fabrics.

"I want to launch my own hijab brand. I have all my designs ready — my own fabric, my own GSM, my own colors. Can you make just 10 pieces per color?"
We get messages like this almost every week from founders starting their own hijab labels. We love the ambition. But we would rather give you an honest answer now than take your deposit and disappoint you later.
So here it is: what is possible at small quantities, what is not — and the smartest way we have seen new brands launch, sell, and come back for bulk orders.

Why "fully custom at 10 pieces" does not work at any factory

When you want a fabric color of your own, the mill has to dye a full roll of fabric in that color. One roll yields roughly 100 hijabs. If you only need 10, you are paying for a whole roll but using a tenth of it — your cost per piece multiplies several times over before we have even cut the fabric.
On top of that, custom-dyed fabric carries its own minimum order quantity and dyeing lead time at the mill. This is not a rule we invented — it is how textile supply chains work in every producing country. A factory that promises fully custom fabric at 10 pieces is either saying "no" politely or planning to disappoint you.

The other hidden cost: shipping small orders

Even if production were not the issue, freight would be. Hijabs are light and bulky. Shipping a few dozen pieces from China by courier often costs as much as — or more than — the products themselves.
That does not mean small orders are pointless. It means your launch plan should concentrate quantity into fewer styles and colors, so every shipment carries more value per kilogram.

The smart way to launch: your designs + our stock fabrics

Here is what we recommend — and what most of our successful small-brand clients actually do:
  • You bring the designs — silhouette, cut, finishing details, sizes.
  • You test the market with one focused first order instead of 10 pieces spread across 20 variations.
  • When something sells, you reorder fast — and once your volumes justify it, we move you up to custom GSM and custom colors.
Our minimum order quantity (MCQ) is 50 pieces per style — and that low minimum is based on our in-stock fabrics: the fabric is already on our shelf, so there is no mill MOQ and no dyeing wait. Styles that require newly sourced fabrics carry higher minimums, which is why you may see MOQs of 300 pieces or more on some of our product pages. Whether you can split those 50 pieces across several colors depends on fabric stock — send us your plan and we will confirm what is possible within a day.

About the sampling fee

Every new style starts with a sample: US$50 per style, covering pattern making, cutting, and sewing — a real garment made one piece at a time, just for you.
  • If you proceed to a bulk order, the $50 is deducted from it.
  • If you do not move forward, the fee is not refunded — the sample has already been made and sent to you.
We think that is fair in both directions: you get to judge our quality with a real piece of your brand, and we cover our labor if you walk away.
